Hundreds of Hearts, Thousands of Homes
Online Zoom Fundraising Concert on May 9th, 2020
2020 will be a memorable year of crisis, hardship, and challenges as COVID-19 has threatened nearly every country and region of the world. In our home country, the Canadian Government has maintained strict social distancing rules and tough economic decisions to reduce the spread of this infection for everyone’s safety. However, 2020 will also be remembered by the tough nature and kind actions our people have exhibited, since we have united together to fight the pandemic. While our front-Line Heroes are risking their own health to rescue infected patients, volunteers from many organizations have come together to support medical staffs with donation of PPE, food and lodgings.
Starting from April 1st, GEBIS Toronto has initiated the first stage of Hundreds of Homes, Thousands of Hearts, an charitable action dedicated in raising funds to alleviate PPE shortage at the front-line medical facilities. GEBIS has received great response and collected over $30,000 in total from individual donors and organizations across different fields. The second stage of the action kicked off on April 23rd, and over 1000 people have contributed as of May 4th.
In order to show appreciation for volunteers and support for front-liners, GEBIS Toronto has been planning a fundraising concert for the past month. Many respectable artists and aspiring local talents are going to perform online from their home, and they expressed their excitement to cheer people up in this challenging circumstance. Quite a few artists are determined to put up the best shows to support people who have been affected by the pandemic; and a thirteen-year-old musician is going to have his debut public performance of his original song, co-composed with his dad. He hoped that his lyrics and melodies could help cure all those suffering hearts.
Please join the Fundraising Concert on May 9th, from 7:30pm to 9pm. You could watch this free performance through Zoom (zoom ID: 9996187777) or YouTube (scan the QR code below or enter through: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QQzST4-A34I#menu).
The scope of the pandemic has not abated; strong support for front-line heroes is needed more than ever, as they are risking their own safety protecting our loved ones. Please kindly forward this message to 10 others to encourage everyone to take part in this action.
